Gigi Baker

Born in Beirut – Lebanon in a multi-cultural family with an Iranian and Armenian heritage, I grew up during the civil war and lived a childhood of survival. My family is made of a bubble that is filled with ideas that are waiting to burst into the world. So It was unavoidable for me to be on a path of creativity when surrounded by ideas, change and a passion to create.

This brand is a fusion of art and fashion. Always believing that color, quality and design, would lead to something fantastic I collaborated with my older brother Ghazi and it brought us closer together even though we live in different continents.

Ghazi is a self-taught artist, and architect in Beirut, and also an avid photographer. His influences include art, music, movies, everyday life and the human condition. His work is sought after by many major collectors all over the world and has been exhibited internationally in Art Basel, Art Miami, scope NY and many others.

Rebellion

Meet Stephnie Wheat – designer of Rebellion purses

Leather held the answer and was a whole new love affair for me. I enjoyed the “handle” of leather and before I knew it belts and handbags made their way into my line. Simple things.

Fast forward through years of parenting, the market crash, closing my first business, submerging myself in yoga teaching, add a shift in my desire to define myself by any one label and you’ll find me currently making things by hand that I truly hope you’ll love.

It’s been said that if you spend 10,000 hours on anything, you’ll know how to do it, well. So I guess, the work really does teach us.

Escama Studio

Escama Hobo Tote Bag

Escama Studio is California and Brazil-based company on a mission to promote sustainable development through trade while coming up with inventive, new fashion accessories. Their name is derived from the Portuguese word for ‘fish scales’ because of their flagship crocheted products, made using pull tabs, which resemble the big metallic scales of a fish!

Escama Studio is a green company, a fair trade company, and what they refer to as ‘an ongoing experiment in sustainability.’ They are committed to building partnerships with producers and manufacturers in underprivileged areas of the world. They measure their success as a company, not by dollars and cents, but by the sense of wonder that their products bring to their customers all over the world.

JADEtribe

JADEtribe is the creation of Kimberly Hartman. She studied Fashion Marketing at the University of North Texas and worked in Dallas, Los Angeles, Paris, and New York managing some top contemporary fashion brands. After working for numerous brands across the country, Kimberly took a break and decided to indulge in her love of travel. She embarked on a solo trip to South East Asia and India. It was during this trip that Kimberly encountered new textiles, natural organic dyes, and weaving techniques. She even employed the women of a small village in Laos to create textiles that became the foundation for the JADEtribe handbag collection.

Kimberly’s line is a little of her beachy, bohemian style, while also embracing the colors, textures, and techniques she discovered during her travels. JADEtribe is also fashion with a conscience and uses 100 percent natural and ethically sourced materials. Each design carries a small piece of Kimberly’s spirit in it, as well as the spirit of the women that inspired her in South East Asia.
