South Life Supply
Kelly and Heather Abbott turned the economic downturn of 2010 into an opportunity after they were both hit by layoffs at their employers. Heather wished for a new pair of earrings, but having just been laid off, she needed to get inventive. Kelly found a jar of spent 40-caliber bullets and was inspired to create something his wife would love. In the end, not only did Heather love his earrings, but family and friends did as well. That was just the beginning!
Since the initial launch of South Life Supply Co, Kelly has continued to make his unique jewelry designs, while Heather applied her business knowledge to grow their small company into a national brand. They have also expanded their line to include leather bags, bracelets, necklaces, belts, wallets, and more. A lot of hard work, love, and a little luck was the secret for South Life Supply Co, and their success continues, as they are now the leader in bullet and shotgun shell style.
Escama Studio is California and Brazil-based company on a mission to promote sustainable development through trade while coming up with inventive, new fashion accessories. Their name is derived from the Portuguese word for ‘fish scales’ because of their flagship crocheted products, made using pull tabs, which resemble the big metallic scales of a fish!
Escama Studio is a green company, a fair trade company, and what they refer to as ‘an ongoing experiment in sustainability.’ They are committed to building partnerships with producers and manufacturers in underprivileged areas of the world. They measure their success as a company, not by dollars and cents, but by the sense of wonder that their products bring to their customers all over the world.
JADEtribe is the creation of Kimberly Hartman. She studied Fashion Marketing at the University of North Texas and worked in Dallas, Los Angeles, Paris, and New York managing some top contemporary fashion brands. After working for numerous brands across the country, Kimberly took a break and decided to indulge in her love of travel. She embarked on a solo trip to South East Asia and India. It was during this trip that Kimberly encountered new textiles, natural organic dyes, and weaving techniques. She even employed the women of a small village in Laos to create textiles that became the foundation for the JADEtribe handbag collection.
Kimberly’s line is a little of her beachy, bohemian style, while also embracing the colors, textures, and techniques she discovered during her travels. JADEtribe is also fashion with a conscience and uses 100 percent natural and ethically sourced materials. Each design carries a small piece of Kimberly’s spirit in it, as well as the spirit of the women that inspired her in South East Asia.
